Prep Doctors® started at the intersection of Dundas and Hurontario. A small residential/commercial second floor unit in an old plaza in Mississauga. Determined to do things right from the start, we created a dental setup with a capacity of 10 students only. That humble beginning was the start of something great.

It was in 2011 that the direct route was established by the National Dental Examining Board (NDEB) in Canada. This was a positive step in the direction of integrating professional immigrants into the Canadian society and make better use of their professional skills and talents. It was in that same year that the Prep Doctors® launched its first course.

Prep Doctors® is now more than just an exam training centre. It has become a community of hardworking professionals and a culture of excellence. It is a community that consists of wonderful international and Canadian dentists working hard to acquire, maintain and even improve Canadian standards.

Having done this for years, we have come to know a lot of our trainees and colleagues very well. This is a relationship that we cherish.

Many of the great started small but they were able to accomplish a lot with passion and making sacrifices. Jeff Bezos founded out of a garage in Bellevue, Washington in 1994. The well-known Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak hand-built computers in a garage in Cupertino, CA and sold them to local retailers. In retrospect, there seems to be something about starting in a garage! Perhaps we should have launched in a home garage and not a small room in an old plaza?  Time will tell!

Why think about those success stories? I think these stories are representative of the story of international dentists immigrating to Canada. It starts with an idea to move to Canada. This is followed by a lot of personal and financial sacrifices accompanied by a lot of uncertainty. The founders of Prep Doctors were all immigrants to Canada. We were determined to show that we, as immigrants, can also build something great in Canada, that we can help BUILD CANADA.  What is Canada, if not a country built by immigrants and their descendants?

We are here to help along the way. We want to see your commitment pay off. We want you to succeed in Canada not only on a professional level but on a personal one as well. We do this by being with you every step of the way, from assisting you with the equivalency application to helping you find the associate position that works for you or start your own practice. We are also working hard to continue to expand our collection of valuable continuing dental education courses designed to help further your professional careers and meet the required number of points.

Because with small beginnings, great things can be built, we are creating the Prep Doctors blog. We hope to use this blog as a medium to share with you and with the world, inspiring stories of excellence, education tips, industry news and more.

If you feel that you have a relevant piece of writing that you would like to share, please let us know.

Finally, I wish everyone great results to their beginnings in Canada.
