Board Exam

All dentists who want to practice in Canada must clear the Canadian Board Exams. You can only take this exam if you have graduated from an accredited dentistry program or completed the three NDEB equivalency exams.

These exams consist of two components: a written examination and the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE). OSCE is a station-type exam that requires candidates to answer match-type questions within five minutes at each question station. Each station features information that needs to be reviewed, such as charts, radiographic images, case histories, casts and models. Candidates will also be required to write a prescription based on the information supplied at certain stations. *Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, OSCE may be conducted in a booklet format rather than stations.

The Written Examination is a multiple-choice exam that consists of two books of 150 questions. Candidates have to demonstrate that they have knowledge and skill in biomedical, behavioural and clinical dental science and professional behaviour. In short, the NDEB wants to know if you are competent to practice dentistry in Canada — from a scientific, clinical and human perspective.

What Does the Course Include?

OSCE Examination: two simulated mock exams; two seven-hour full-day exam review sessions; an annually updated OSCE course manual; crucial exam hacks.

Written Examination: two simulated mock exams; two 10-hour full-day exam review sessions; tailored exam strategy; targeted focus on challenging areas of the exam.
