Over the past three years, our Situational Judgment Course has undergone a transformative journey, evolving alongside the dynamic landscape of the Canadian dental equivalency process. We’ve meticulously curated every aspect to ensure that you are not only well-prepared for the challenges you’ll face but also equipped with the confidence to excel.
Led by our esteemed Chief Learning Officer (CLO), Dr. Marwan Al Rayes, a distinguished former University of Toronto instructor, our program offers a comprehensive training experience that transcends traditional boundaries. Our objective is not just to impart knowledge, but to ignite your potential and hone your skills to navigate the intricacies of real-world scenarios with finesse.
Course Objectives:
Mastery of Core Competencies: Acquire the essential skills and knowledge required to demonstrate the 5 clinical competences in diverse scenarios, ensuring readiness for the NDECC-SJ exams.
Confidence Building: Cultivate the confidence to tackle any challenge thrown your way on exam day, instilling a sense of assurance in your abilities.
Adaptive Problem-Solving: Develop the ability to think on your feet and adapt swiftly to varying clinical situations, enhancing your problem-solving skills.
Comprehensive Preparation: Benefit from a holistic approach to learning, encompassing theoretical knowledge, practical insights, and hands-on experience to provide a well-rounded preparation.
Continuous Improvement: Engage in regular mini-mock and feedback sessions to monitor your progress, identify areas for improvement, and refine your approach.
What is the NDECC®?
Assessment of Fundamental Knowledge (AFK)
Assessment of Clinical Judgement (ACJ)
NDECC®
Board Exam (OSCE)
All dentists who want to practice in Canada must follow Canadian standards and criteria, which are often different from other countries worldwide. To prove they can uphold these standards, all non-accredited international dentists must have their work and knowledge assessed in a four-part dental equivalency process overseen by The National Dental Examining Board of Canada (NDEB).
The National Dental Examination of Clinical Competence (NDECC®) (formally known as the ACS) Exam is the third official step in your journey to becoming a dentist in Canada. The NDECC™ assesses dentists’ clinical skills and situational judgment by requiring them to complete several specific projects and solve problems in work‑related situations in a dental clinic simulation. During the two-day examination, the clinical component will be conducted on simulated patients (manikins) in a clinical setting under specific infection control rules that apply throughout the exam. While the situational judgement component problem-solving analyses in dealing with patients.
